Through the Designer’s Eyes: Behind the Scenes of our Linen Collection

Through the Designer’s Eyes: Behind the Scenes of our Linen Collection

Inspired by a love for travel and the ocean; designed to empower and encourage; and, created by a full circle movement: that is the foundation of every YIREH collection. We design easy-to-wear and easy-to-pack clothing for the modern traveler and everyday woman. Because we know that life isn’t always perfect and you need clothes that make you feel beautiful and strong even when you don’t feel that way.

When Emily, the designer and founder of YIREH, starts designing a new collection she focuses on creating pieces that make getting dressed easy—letting the outfit do all the work for you. With care and thoughtfulness, she makes sure each clothing piece is versatile that requires minimal styling and, most importantly, makes you feel beautiful. Now, we turn it over to the designer herself to talk about her experience:

“I’m a fashion school drop out (went for a year, tried to juggle running YIREH & going to college and it was just too much), so my design methods are unconventional, but they work for me. It’s helped me realize that there can be multiple ways to accomplish something, and it doesn’t always have to be done by the book.

So if there is something you want to do, but aren’t exactly sure how to go about it, my advice to you is to just start somewhere. You can get advice, and mentors, or do fancy schooling, or get creative with your own methods-whatever works for you. But just start.”

Ethical fashion was where Emily realized her passion lies and started on her journey to building YIREH. She wanted to help people and give back to the world through the business she ran—but, we often get the question: what exactly is "ethical fashion"?

We lay it all out in our Beginner’s Guide to Ethical Fashion: for the socially conscious shopper. It’s a free downloadable PDF that walks you through explaining ethical fashion, showing you how to support ethical fashion brands and how to start curating an ethical closet.
