Lauren's favorite lipsticks for spring
Well, my friends, we’re moving out of Winter and into Spring: a season for bright, playful and colorful lipstick. Gone are the days of dry, chapped lips (in Nebraska) and here are the days of flowers, morning dew and light breezes. Sweet relief!
There’s nothing like celebrating the turn of a season with new makeup — it’s a season that I love playing around with nail polish colors, hair colors and lip colors. In Winter, I use extra-conditioning chapstick religiously so Spring gives me a break to let loose and have fun.
I’m also a fan of clean beauty — the beauty industry isn’t always looking out for you as a consumer. There aren’t high standards for safety and efficacy which makes many beauty products problematic. Did you know that you absorb up to 60 percent of everything you put on your skin?
I've been on a journey to transition my beauty products and makeup to more sustainable brands. I've tried my fair share of lipsticks, and these are my favorite truly kissable organic lipsticks that you'll feel safe putting on your lips.
Sublime is a bright, modern fuchsia pink that shines: both sensuous and nourishing. It’s very pigmented and rich in nutrients like buriti oil and vitamin A. This lip shine combines nourishing organic oils and pure mineral pigment which makes it highly emollient and visibly hydrating.

Ilia’s award-winning Tinted Lip Conditioner finds middle ground between lipstick and chapstick. It provides a good dose of lip care with color. The Lip Conditioner is built for women on-the-go with color that nourishes and builds on each swipe. Dizzy is a perfect spring color — an orange that can be as bright as you’d like. I love wearing it as a sheer tint that takes on a coral color.

Another great option for those who need hydration; Le Lip Tint is a lustrous rose-mint balm and emollient mineral lip tint in one. French Girl Organics formulated the lip tints with an enriching blend of organic & wildcrafted waxes, butters, and oils to leave lips moisturized while adding a subtle pop of color, perfect for everyday. Le Lip Tint in Cerise is a neutral medium-red with a sheer finish (fun fact: Cerise is “cherry” in French).

Amazed is the perfect counterpart to the RMS Lip2Cheek in Sublime, where Sublime is fuchsia and Kjaer Weiss Lip Tint in Amazed is more of a lilac. This lip tint leaves lips comfortable and hydrated with jojoba seed oil and gardenia florida fruit extract. If lilac might be “too” outside your normal lip color, try this Lip Tint since it’s buildable from a light tint to a more opaque look.
